Learning Skills & Work Habits
This is a document regarding tips for increasing student organizational skill
This is a great cbc news article on student self-regulation techniques being used in public schools in surrey BC
This is a great video that could be used to explain what collaboration in education looks like, and sounds like.
·         I would like to have all of my students be able to regulate themselves with regards to their learning skills and work habits. I would like to give them the knowledge and resources and let them decide what they would like to do with it
·         Give students knowledge on how to become better learner. For example, study strategies and reading comprehension strategies

Performance Standards: The Achievement Chart
This is a video that provides an overall summary of performance standards and achievement charts
This is link to a pdf which includes all of the acheivment charts from grades 1-12 for all subjects
·         This is a link to a PDF which gives a more parent friendly explanation of the achievement chart and the category of performance standards

·         I would like to communicate these achievement charts to my students
·         Post these charts in the classroom in a more student friendly language

This is a book that I purchased in hard copy form that gives all sorts of strategies and ideas on assessment and how to effectively use assessment to gauge understanding of the curriculum.
·         I would like to use fair assessment strategies that motivate learning for a more intrinsic purpose
·         Use more formative more often and let students choose their study material and type of assessment form. For example, book report, video recording, poem, mock trial, or debate

Contains several videos and PDF regarding assessment of learning and how to assign a grade
Pg 38-46 of our growing success document contains extremely useful information of how to properly assign a grade to students
This is a PDF document with a detailed description of what Assessment of learning and summative assessment are
·         I would like to make sure that my evaluation directly corresponds with the curriculum and is standard across my grade, classes and other teachers
·         I will be asking other teachers how they evaluate students and what standards they expect with students in the same grade

This is a book that I purchased for our “Cognition and the exceptional learner” class, very useful for teachers working with students with special needs
This is the ministry of education site which contains a bunch of resources and explanation of processes regarding identifying and placing students with exceptionalities
·         I would like to know how to effectively include exceptional learners into the regular education setting
·         Gain experience through discussion with teachers with experience in teaching exceptional learners

English Language Learners
This is a guide for teachers who have ESL students within their classroom
This is a guide for teaching ESL students mathematics
This is the ESL specific curriculum for grades 9-12
·         I would like to know how to effectively communicate with ESL learners and make them feel comfortable in their new classroom environment
·         Use body language, translator and educational assistance to give these students a fair chance at their education
